Letting Go of What Was Never Yours to Carry

Somewhere along the way, you picked it up. The weight of other people’s words. The guilt that wasn’t yours. The responsibility for things you had no control over.
And without even realising it, you began carrying it – quietly, constantly, believing you were meant to.
But here’s the truth: not everything you carry belongs to you.
The Silent Weight of Emotional Baggage
We learn early on to absorb things that don’t serve us. A parent's unhealed wounds. A teacher's harsh tone. A culture that rewards silence and self-sacrifice. Trauma passed down. Expectations handed over like heirlooms.
You might be carrying shame that never started with you. Guilt for simply existing in a way that didn’t fit the mould. Responsibility for keeping the peace, fixing others, holding everything together.
But these aren’t yours. They never were.
Recognising What You’ve Internalised
So many of us walk through life weighed down, not by what’s happening now – but by what we’ve unknowingly internalised from years ago.
Thoughts like:
“It was my fault.”
“I should’ve known better.”
“I’m too much / not enough.”
These thoughts didn’t appear from nowhere. They were learned. Conditioned. Repeated until they felt true.
As an NLP-trained coach, one of the most powerful shifts I see in clients is the moment they realise: “This isn’t mine. I don’t have to hold it anymore.”
Releasing Through Forgiveness
Letting go isn’t about pretending nothing happened. It’s about forgiving yourself for the way you carried it all. For how you coped. For the years spent believing the lies shame told you.
Forgiveness, especially self-forgiveness, is a quiet revolution. It unhooks the past from your present. It gives you permission to feel lighter, clearer, more you.
Using NLP, we work together to identify the beliefs that have been running in the background – and gently shift them. We clear out the noise, the guilt, the shame, and bring you back to centre.
You Were Never Meant to Carry It Alone
Imagine walking through life no longer burdened by other people’s pain. No longer defining yourself by old wounds. No longer holding on to what was never yours to begin with.
This is the work. This is the healing. It’s deep. It’s real. And it’s entirely possible.
You can put it down now. You can exhale. You can walk forward lighter, freer, and more at peace.
When you're ready to release what was never yours to carry, I'm here. The load gets lighter when it's shared – and eventually, it disappears altogether.
